This 1924 Steinway M was refinished, restrung, and had new hammers and dampers fitted about 25 years ago. The original ivory is in good condition. It is detailed: all brass polished, and finish cleaned. I have no problem having an independent technician look at this piano for you.

The soundboard does not have any cracks, and no previous repairs.

Truthfully, what really matters is how it sounds and plays, and this piano will not disappoint.

Built during Steinways “Golden Years” when Steinway build some of their best piano, this instrument has the bones to be rebuilt again, and will be worth the investment. Why was it the Golden Era? That could cover a book, but suffice it to say that the models and designs had settled down into their current design (the M is still made today), built buy European craftsmen who had studied the art of piano building for a minimum of 5 years before setting foot in the United States. That’s simply not the case today. The Unied States has no 5 year piano builder trade school, and while Germay does, we no longer have thousands of German piano builders lining up at Ellis Island something into the piano trade. Then there is the wood which comprises the case. Those tree simply don’t exist anymore.

Priced slightly higher that a new 5’ Yamaha, and $10,000 less that the 5’10” Yamaha GC2 - this piano is a good-value legacy instrument.

About me:

These instruments have been my profession since 1982, but my passion is the people I serve. I am a piano tuner technician, musician (operatic tenor, guitarists, bassist, and "piano player,") and still tune for most of my clients personally. I take great pride in providing value to families and businesses, whether or not you purchase from me. So if you're looking at another piano, call me anyway. I'm not going to sell you the wrong piano.

My store is Apollo Piano Piano: www.ApolloPiano.net

My S.F. Piano Tuning Service site is www.SFPianoWorks.com. Check me out there,

My assitant Dexter handles most of the texts and phone calls. Reach out to him, tell him you'd like to speak with me regarding a piano you saw on the CraigsList and we'll connect.

I truly wish you a positive shopping experience and a wonderful purchase, regardless of which piano you end up purchasing.
