I'm a San Francisco Bay Area based acoustic piano specialist, working with the instruments in homes, institutions, and performance venues throughout Northern California. I am employed by Stanford University, and work with major technology and school districts managing instruments and creating systems to manager their fleets and arts programs. My primary focus is Yamaha and Bösendorfer, with deep experience across Shigeru Kawai, Steinway & Sons, and C. Bechstein and others.
I provide warranty services for Yamaha, Bösendorfer, and Kawai, and I can work on a broad range of instruments which contain electronic systems. I'm one of the SF Bay Area region’s leading Yamaha Disklavier specialists. I service, calibrate, and perform full system upgrades for owners moving beyond legacy Mark IV and E3 systems. I also service on select QRS and PianoDisc player systems, as well as the Yamaha Avant Grand and Kawai Novus series of hybrids.

I start with the tuning, using whatever time is left to make mechanical or tonal improvements. Every piano is different; I make that call on site based on what the instrument actually needs.

This tuning appointment covers SF and parts of the East Bay. Because it's outside my home zone, I build extra time into every visit here, starting with the tuning, then using whatever's left for mechanical or tonal improvements the piano can use. Every piano's different; I'll tell you directly if yours would benefit from a longer session or shop visit.

Fly To You
Full-day fly-in service for areas beyond a comfortable drive for me.
Areas include Santa Rosa/Napa, Sacramento/Folsom, SLO, and Lake Tahoe. Flights limited to 90 minutes each way and originate from Palo Alto or Chico (KPAO, KCIC)
The fee is inclusive of travel (plane, rental car/Lyft), for a full day on-site.
Cost may be split up to four ways.
Additional days $1,800/day plus lodging.

Disklavier Service
Yamaha's Disklavier system - now also found in Bösendorfer pianos - is a highly sophisticated reproducing system capable of remote lessons, video capture, MIDI recording, and more.
Keeping it properly calibrated takes a high-caliber piano technician who's also a Disklavier expert - to manage the acoustic piano and electronic side equally.
I provide warranty service for Yamaha and Bösendorfer's current systems, along with repairs and upgrades.
If you own a Mark II or Mark III system, Yamaha will soon release a full upgrade - replacing all hardware and bringing you up to the current Enspire system. I'll be able to install this system when it becomes available.

QRS & PianoDisc
I work on select QRS and PianoDisc player systems, which bring recorded and streaming performances to any acoustic piano, but the system is only as good as the instrument it's installed in.
Hybrid & Silent Systems
Yamaha AvantGrand and NV Hybrid pianos, along with Yamaha TransAcoustic/Silent and Kawai AURES systems, Bösendorfer SH, AdSilent, etc. blend acoustic and digital technology in ways a standard piano technician isn't trained to handle. Calibration, key sensor issues, and digital-side diagnostics require both traditional piano skill and specific training on these systems, which is where I focus.
